Direct primary care (DPC) is a way for you and your family to get personalized care from your doctor,
as often as you need, to get healthy and stay healthy for an affordable monthly membership fee.

Our members receive significant discounts on medicines at local pharmacies, on lab tests, and on imaging services, such as CT scans and x-rays. If you need to be referred to a specialist, The Practice also has negotiated discounted pricing with our network of physician specialists in Bakersfield.

DPC doctor offices offer families and employers substantial savings on their annual medical costs. The Practice is a pre-paid membership medical office. We do not bill insurance companies, so our office expenses are much lower than other doctor offices. Meet Dr. Jan Mensink

Dr. Jan Mensink is a Board-Certified Family Practice physician with the American Board of Family Medicine. He has extensive training and experience, with tens of thousands of hours in Emergency Medicine and Neurosurgery in Southern California, including San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield.

In 2010, Dr. Mensink transitioned to becoming a Concierge Physician, offering Direct-Pay medical care in Bakersfield. By the summer of 2015, he was honored to join the faculty of Western University of Health Sciences as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine.

Dr. Mensink was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and attended medical school in Edmonton, Alberta, at one of Canada’s top-ranked institutions. He completed his Family Practice Residency at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida, earning his certification and license in Family Medicine.

His career includes extensive work in Emergency Rooms across Southern California, with approximately 30,000 hours dedicated to Emergency Medicine. Dr. Mensink has treated a wide range of medical issues, from minor ailments to severe traumas. Additionally, he spent almost five years in a Neurosurgery Residency and has been practicing in that specialty in Bakersfield since 2000.
